MS Amlin
  • Supported the data warehouse, responding to production tickets and problems.
  • Investigated why certain source data was not coming through to the data warehouse fact and dimension tables. This caused reports to be incorrect.
  • Tracked down missing insurance premiums to provide an explanation why the accounting financial details were not reconciled. Often or not these details were never entered at the source. Used source data at the time of data entry to prove this. Organized data to be entered.
  • Chaired a team meeting for every 4-5 weeks, discussing current team issues to do with the support of the data warehouse.
  • Carried out morning procedures to supply reports to other departments such as the actuary department regarding the previous night’s batch processing of the data warehouse.
  • Added ‘Cat Codes’ to insurance documents so they could be processed by the correct department.
  • Added missing brokers.
  • Examined why overnight batch processing failed.
  • Fond out why currency values were null in policy records and why policies were missing from source data.

Two Circles

Two Circles is a data-driven sports agency that helps sports organizations grow direct relationships between sports and fans.

  • Handled a client's data warehouse requirements.
  • Wrote several packages using an SSIS for each container to download missing data from several files into a staging table via parsing the JSON code. Used views on that staging to populate the data warehouse.
  • Wrote SSIS package to download an unzipped data file, unzipped the downloaded file, load the data into the data warehouse (DWH) in terms of dimension and fact tables. Informed users via a combination of script tasks using C# and Microsoft T-SQL code in execution tasks to send notification emails to users informing them of a successful update or unsuccessful update of the data warehouse.
  • Analyzed discrepancies in data warehouse in terms of size. Wrote document explaining the discrepancies and gave a presentation to users explaining why the discrepancy was taking place. The root cause of the issue was that one side of the DWH was correctly deduplicating data.
  • Created Power BI visualizations with the use of DAX expressions to shown sales per period, month year, and previous months and years for the professional darts data warehouse. General assistance to junior member staff in the IT development department.

Microsoft Business Intelligence Consultant
ENGIE
  • Corrected SSIS on the data warehouse problems at the production level.
  • Wrote a backup based on Microsoft Access to cover the unlikely event of a systems failure with the data warehouse.
  • Documented areas of Engie data warehouse using the recommended Sentry One documentation system.
  • Corrected SSIS package that suddenly stopped working. Other team members tried to figure out the problem. Solved it by using the version control system TFS to take a previous good copy of the package and install it into production. It was obviously a problem with SSIS metadata which is almost impossible to solve from a developer’s point of view.

  • Recommended changes in data warehouse to cater for data coming from SAP (Hana and SAP BO Data Services - BODS).
  • Implemented agreed ETL changes to data warehouse and SSIS packages to use SQL Tables as source data rather than CSV files.
  • Changed existing SQL Stored Procedures to cater to source data from SQL Tables rather than CSV files.
  • Wrote scripts to compare data into fact and dimension tables from both the old source input of CSV files and the new source input of SQL Tables to test the warehouse was producing the same values.
  • Used new Surrogate Key for all data warehouse data, both old and new so that we could differentiate between older and newer data.
  • Participated in requirements gathering for the enhancement of the data warehouse to use SAP BODS data to populate new SQL Tables as source data.
